Massachusetts Horticultural Society Twilight Party

The Massachusetts Horticultural Society is hosting a Twilight Garden Party on June 2 and seeks donated product. Participating growers and food businesses will be well recognized and promoted.

From P. Wayne Mezzit, Chairman, Board of Trustees, The Gardens at Elm Bank - “We are expecting about 300 attendees and will be sending the invitations to hundreds more. Our Honorary Committee includes a large number of supporters who helped build Elm Bank gardens and programs over the last 20 years. Our Mass Hort membership information tells us that the majority of members are over 50 years of age, appreciate many aspects of horticulture and are relatively affluent. This is a great demographic, most of whom are eager to know more about availability of locally-produced foods and beverages.”

The party is being catered by Peppers and chef John Lawrence loves to use locally-sourced food and beverages. “Our efforts will focus on sourcing appropriate finger-type foods from as many Massachusetts producers as possible, emphasizing the “locavore” theme wherever appropriate. We’re thinking that unique cheeses, wines, cider, beer, vegetables, small and large fruits, egg products, preserves, milk, cream and maple products could all be components of the evening. Depending upon what’s provided, John can determine the best way to prepare and serve.
